Mexicali

The first lines of  its history go back to the year of 1540, when the Europeans named Francisco de Ulloa, Fernando de Alarcon and Melchor Diaz by orders of Hernan Cortez made expeditions in the Sea of Cortez until they arrived to the Colorado River.

Mexicali was founded years later on March 14, 1903, when Mr. Manuel Vizcarra was entitled as the first authority of the City. Most of the founders arrived to this land to work in the installation of the irrigation system of the Colorado River. The “Colorado River Land Company” was the company that led this project and later promoted the leasing of the land for cotton development.

Nowadays, the city has an extension of 13, 607 square kilometers and a population around the 850,000 inhabitants. The hot climate to practice sports outside. This City counts with the most sunny days throughout the year.

Mexicali, today is a city of warm and hardworking people. It’s a land of opportunities and progress with an obvious tendency towards industrial development. It’s an ideal location for all types of Industry.

Throughout the year, Mexicali hosts spectacular events such as “Fiestas del Sol” in October, “Welcome Winter Visitors Fiestas”, bullfights at Plaza Calafia and golf tournaments at the country club. The State Theatre is constantly open to the public with all Kinds of plays, concerts and special events.
